Movie Description

In one of his last featured roles prior to becoming a "superstar," Kevin Costner stars in the 1985 bicycle-racing film, American Flyers. Directed by John Badham (Saturday Night Fever, War Games) and written by the Oscar winner for Best Original Screenplay (Breaking Away, also about biking) in 1979, Steve Tesich, American Flyers revolves around two brothers (Costner and David Marshall Grant) as they train for a bicycle race in the Rocky Mountains.

Although previously not close, the brothers learn from each other and form a bond which unfortunately is put to the test when the younger brother (Grant) suffers an aneurysm, leaving Costner's character to uphold the family honor by continuing on in the race.

Rae Dawn Chong and Alexandra Paul, as the love interests of the brothers, round out the primary cast.
