Movie Description

With a cast featuring such notables as Fabian, Shelley Fabares, Tab Hunter and Barbara Eden (who began her signature role in "I Dream of Jeannie" soon afterward), 1964's Ride the Wild Surf revolves around the then-current surfing craze that swept primarily the West Coast.

Ride the Wild Surf takes place in Hawaii however, focusing on three surfers who make the trip to compete against internationally-known surfers as they battle the world's biggest waves. The three also get involved romantically, which both helps and hinders their surfing aspirations.

The film features excellent footage of Hawaii's big waves, and is also notable for the title song, written by Brian Wilson (of the Beach Boys), Jan Berry (of Jan and Dean), and Roger Christian. The tune went all the way to Number 16 on the Billboard charts.
