Facing your inner demons, either real or imagined, is never a pleasant experience, but to have that occur while alone and adrift at sea is exactly what Georgia Perry is up against in the 2003 Australian film, Visitors.
Attempting to sail solo around the world, Perry undergoes the ultimate in loneliness, and whether her imagination is running rampant or her "visitors" are real is the challenge to the viewer.
Radha Mitchell is spellbinding as Perry, the incredibly iron-willed woman on a quest. Watching her confront her past and present is mesmerizing, disturbing and will have the audience buzzing after the 90 minutes is finished.
The late Australian director Richard Franklin directed Visitors, which subsequently has drawn comparisons with another classic study in isolation, Stanley Kubrick's The Shining.
