Movie Description

The 2009 film, Calvin Marshall, delves into the frequently overlooked world of junior college baseball. This may seem to be a less-than-thrilling premise, but stellar performances by the cast along with a storyline that slowly draws viewers in, makes Calvin Marshall a true gem of a film.

Every athletic team has a Calvin Marshall; not especially gifted, but never giving less than 110% and the ultimate "teammate." His coach (Steve Zahn) somehow puts up with Calvin, and is more than convincing in his portrayal, while Alex Frost in the title role is eagerness personified.

Written and directed by Gary Lundgren, Calvin Marshall is a delightful little film that avoids the cliches many similarly-themed films fall prey to. The manner in which it portrays small-town life and the inhabitants is thoroughly and satisfyingly entertaining.
