Movie Description

Perhaps the most celebrated (at least in the U.S.) racehorse in history, Secretariat is the subject of the same-titled 2010 Disney Productions film.

For those unaware, Secretariat won racehorsing's Triple Crown in 1973 after a stretch of 25 years without a thoroughbred capturing the sports' crown jewel. The horse also set the record for the fastest-ever Kentucky Derby at 1:59.40.

Diane Lane stars as Secretariat's owner, but make no mistake as to who the film's real stars are: The five horses chosen to portray legendary "Big Red." These beautiful animals are a joy to behold, whether racing, grazing or just posing for photographers.

The racing scenes are excellently filmed, and although a few artistic liberties are in evidence, the film, for the most part remains faithful to history.
