Movie Description

Despite competing in less than a "major" market and with a much smaller payroll than most other franchises, Billy Beane, general manager of baseball's Oakland Athletics, has used an unorthodox approach to assembling his team and been moderately successful during his tenure. Beane and his team are the subject of the 2011 Columbia Pictures release, Moneyball.

Brad Pitt stars as Beane, whose non-traditional methods flew directly in the face of accepted baseball "how-to's," and quite naturally, with baseball being perhaps the most rigid and traditional of all major sports, faced opposition and derision for his tactics.

Adapted from Michael M. Lewis' novel, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game, the film features, besides Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright, Chris Pratt and Jonah Hill in the cast.
