Two brothers with differing motivations and ambitions, fueled by their father's life-long dreams of Olympic boxing glory is the focus of the 1988 boxing film, Split Decisions. David Drury, the film's director, also was in the chair for films such as Tough Love, Forever Young and Intrigue.
Eddie and Ray McGuinn are boxing brothers who've been taught and coached by their father, but when Ray, the oldest, eager for riches instead of acclaim, signs on with an unscrupulous manager, the family finds itself torn apart from the conflict. Tragedy strikes when Ray balks at throwing a fight arranged by the corrupt manager and is killed by enforcers as punishment. Seeking vengeance for his older brother's death, Eddie turns professional, disappointing the father.
Split Decisions features a standout cast, including Hollywood veteran Gene Hackman as the father, along with Craig Sheffer and Jeff Fahey as the sons. Jennifer Beals, Eddie Velez and John McLiam also appear.
