Movie Description

The hometown hero returning home is the underlying storyline behind the NBC made-for-TV film, Game Time: Tackling the Past.

Jake Walker (Ryan McPartlin, from TV's 'Chuck') is a star professional quarterback who, for the first time in his otherwise charmed life, faces adversity in the form of a serious knee injury. When his team decides the injury is more severe than they want to deal with, his services are no longer needed, and he returns home.

Once home, Jake learns that he has other serious issues, most notably mending fences with family and friends, and his inability (at least at first) to handle his fall from grace leads to some deep soul-searching.

The film moves quickly, but still manages to impart valuable lessons on the importance of teamwork and the dangers of ignoring warning signs of eventual trouble in the pursuit of personal goals.

McPartlin is excellent as the fallen hero, with standout performances also turned in by Josh Braaten, Katie Carr and Beau Bridges.
