The sometimes "over-the-top" world of English football is the focus of the 2011 film, Will. Ellen Perry, noted for her 2005 documentary, The Fall of Fujimori, directed.
Eleven-year old Will, a fanatical follower of the Liverpool FC, is attending boarding school in southern England. Although not an orphan, his father proves to be incapable of taking care of the lad after his mother dies. Unexpectedly, the father appears at the school with two tickets to the upcoming Liverpool-Milan FC championship match in Istanbul. Before the big date arrives however, Will's father suddenly dies.
Determined to attend the match, Will runs away from the school, dead set on reaching Turkey. Along the way, the boy crosses paths with a one-time star footballer from Yugoslavia who reluctantly agrees to try and help young Will realize his dream.
Perry Eggleton is charming as the orphaned Will, with Damien Lewis, Jane March and Bob Hoskins also giving strong performances.
