Movie Description

Legendary comic and sports figures team up in Off Limits, a comedy about a boxing manager who joins the Army in order to keep tabs on his "meal ticket" of a fighter. George Marshall, esteemed director behind such classics as Destry Rides Again, How the West Was Won and The Blue Dahlia, called the shots on Off Limits.

Bob Hope plays the concerned manager, with other notable cast members including Mickey Rooney, Marilyn Maxwell, Eddie Mayerhoff, along with sports icons Jack Dempsey, Tom Harmon and Art Aragon adding support. Hope's comedic skills are put to good use, with his trademark double-talk and takes featured prominently.

A monkeywrench is thrown into the proceedings when Hope's protege is declared unfit for military service, leaving Hope holding the bag, so to speak, and forced to rely on the diminuitive, but feisty Rooney as his showcase pugilist.

Obviously dated, Off Limits still hits the right chords more often than not, although younger viewers may find the proceedings "old-fashioned" or "boring."
