Movie Description

Starring Robert Wagner, Jill St. John, Gene Hackman, James Farentino and Susan Clark, the sports drama Banning delves into the seamier side of professional golf. Wagner portrays Mike McDermott, a fast-rising PGA competitor who's falsely accused of cheating and is forced out of the tour. Changing his name to Banning, he threatens to blackmail the parties who instigated the false charges, but is then forced to stage a winner-take-all tournament in order to repay his Mafia benefactors. With everything on the line, Banning must regain his earlier brilliance on the links in order to clear his reputation as well as settle his debt.

Directed by Ron Winston, composers Quincy Jones and Bob Russell received Oscar nominations for their song, "The Eyes of Love."
