Movie Description

The crime drama/sports film Foxcatcher, starring Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo and Vanessa Redgrave, is produced and directed by Bennett Miller (Capote, Moneyball) and is based on a true story involving the 1988 U.S. Men's Olympic wrestling team.

John du Pont's (Carell) decision to employ the Schultz brothers former Olympic wrestling champions to train candidates for the U.S. Olympic squad is met with eager acceptance by Mark (Tatum); skepticism by Dave (Ruffalo). Angered by the way the egotistical du Pont is treating his brother, Dave reluctantly agrees to participate, only to discover Mark has become isolated and bitter, leading to mistrust and animosity between him and du Pont. When it becomes apparent that Mark's best wrestling days are behind him, du Pont switches his allegiance to Dave, but Dave refuses to be subservient (unlike his brother) towards the millionaire, with eventual disastrous results.

Widely praised for its authenticity, direction and standout performances, Foxcatcher has garnered many accolades from the cinematic community, including the Cannes Film Festival, the SAG Awards and the Golden Globes.
