Movie Description

Essentially an updated re-telling of the Biblical parable of the Prodigal Son, the 2010 sports drama, Breaking the Press, stars a largely unfamiliar cast and is produced, written and directed by Andrew Stevens.

The film begins by focusing on basketball coach Tex Summer, but just when the audience starts to get comfortable with his character, the story veers off to a young couple who decide to adopt two sibling boys. Growing up, the boys take decidely different paths, although both are on the high school basketball team, coached, ironically, by their stepfather. The arrogant, prideful brother, Josh creates problems by refusing to be a "team" player, while Matthew, the other brother, is all about sharing and working together for the common good.

Predictable, but bearing a wholesome message, Breaking the Press doesn’t break any new cinematic ground, but its’ underlying tale of reconciliation and "doing the right thing" resonates positively with audiences of all ages.
