Movie Description
Written and directed by John Groovers, the 2011 independent film, The Frontier Boys, tells the story of a Michigan high school basketball team which undergoes serious life-changing circumstances due to outside influences.
The team’s star, T.J. Lewis, becomes mixed up with drug-dealing newcomers to the town, subsequently resulting in a drive-by shooting which leaves T.J. in a coma. A friend and teammate, Brent Fencett, is a witness to the crime, and his struggle to come forward with what he knows provides the impetus for the film. The fact that Brent’s own brother played a prominent role in the crime also weighs heavily upon him.
Powerfully presented and unblinking when dealing with "real life" issues, The Frontier Boys, despite being an outside-the-mainstream production, resonates positively with its’ underlying "do-the-right-thing" message.
