Movie Description

It’s difficult to imagine a more diverse group of misfits than those making up the Cleveland Indians in the 1989 baseball comedy, Major League. Written and directed by David S. Ward, Major League not only contains every conceivable baseball stereotype, but feeds them steroids, making the film, at times, almost farcical.

From Pedro Carrano’s pre-game voodoo rituals to ex-convict relief pitcher Rick Vaughn’s "Wild Thing" entry theme song, Major League manages to pile an incredible amount of cliches into 107 minutes.

Despite the predictability and over-done stereotypes, Major League has developed somewhat of a cult following over the years, even spawning two sequels, although neither has duplicated the original’s box-office success. The cast is well-known, with familiar faces such as Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen, Rene Russo and Wesley Snipes.
