Movie Description
Music video veterans/brothers Emmett and Brendan Malloy made their big screen directorial debut with Out Cold, a comedy set among the Alaskan snowboarding community. Zach Galifianakis, Jason London, A.J Cook and Lee Majors star in this part-parody, part slapstick production.
Partying, seeking out girls and generally leading the classic "slacker" lifestyle is the primary focus of four lifelong friends in Bull Mountain, Alaska. However, when the town’s founder dies, the unscrupulous John Majors (Majors) moves fast with plans to purchase the bucolic village and turn it into an oh-so-trendy ski resort. This perhaps spells the end to the live-and-let-live way of life for the four buddies, but as expected, they manage to get it together enough to put up a fight.
London is the only somewhat "normal" townie, while Galifianakis, foreshadowing his later typical slacker roles, is well suited for his role as the occasionally brilliant, more often drunk or stoned "anti-Yuppie" who’ll do practically anything if dared. Majors, never lauded for his acting range or charisma, performs his role as expected; wooden and stoically.
Out Cold’s soundtrack features such Malloy "clients" as Jimmy Eat World, Jack Johnson and will.i.am, as well as contributions from Foo Fighters, Sum 41 and Handsome Devil.
