Movie Description
Romeo and Juliet meets skateboarding! Frequently credited as being the first film to popularize skateboarding, 1986’s Thrashin’ has since attained cult status, both among ‘boarders and the skateboarding industry itself.
Josh Brolin stars as Cory, an amateur skateboarder who’s spending the summer in Los Angeles in hopes of cultivating his ‘board skills enough to be a factor in an upcoming competition. He makes the mistake of falling in love with Chrissy, who happens to be the younger sister of the leader of a tough local skateboarding gang. Cory and his skating buddies are constantly finding themselves in confrontations with the local gang, which eventually leads to a stand-off (or "skate-off").
Thrashin’ features a diverse soundtrack, with songs by such varied performers as Devo, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Meat Loaf, the Bangles and the Fine Young Cannibals.
